Makiyis or Melasti Ceremony
* Mekiyis or Melasti ceremony, a purification ceremony held in
welcoming Nyepi, the I Saka new year at is along procession of
Hindu adherents carrying temple affigies and other sacred symbols,
heading to beaches or springs where the purification rituals are
held, Throughout Bali.

" Tawur Agung Kesanga " (Great Sacrificial Ceremony),
held to welcome Nyepi holiday at every family compound, village
and town centre up to the provincial area of Bali focused at Puputan
square, in front of governors residence, downtown of Denpasar
at 12.00 noon. The rituals held at noon will be followed by procession
of " Ogoh - Ogoh " ( huge monster / evil dolls ) symbolizing
evil spirits along the village and city roads, at around 05.00
pm.
"Ogoh-Ogoh" is a parade held prior to the Balinese
New Year. It is highlighted by a representation of the evil spirit.
On this same day, purification sacrifices and offerings are made
in village centers and at crossroads, throughout the island. Priests
chant mantras to exorcise the demons (kala and buta) of the old
year. In the evening people bang gongs and cymbals in the corners
of houses, and parade through the streets with flaming torches,
in order to arouse evil spirits. The parade follows Ngerupuk,
an early evening ritual ceremony.

Saraswati Celebrations
The day devoted to Sang Hyang Aji Saraswati, symbolized as beautiful
Goddes of knowledges, sciences and arts, when blessing ceremony is
given to holy scriptures, literatures of science and art, held at
every family compound.
- 28 april 2007 (Saniscara, Landep / Tumpek Landep)
"Tumpek Landep" day, devoted to "Sang Hyang Pasupati"
the Lord of all metal implements, when blessing ceremony is given
to heirlooms, weapon and the other metal tools (including car),
for magical power and proper function, held at every family-compound
(especialy smith's and garage.
